Route of crafts I.

Stations

It is suggested to travel by car on this trip because of the large distance among the places of interest.

1. Jászágó

The relics of the ancient culture can be seen in the Local History Museum and we can find the tools of family life, agriculture, clothes, etc. in the Ethnography Exhibition. Moreover, there is a school history exhibition in this village offering interesting things.

2. Jászárokszállás

The name of ’Jász House’ (Ördög Józsefné – +36 57 531 062) clearly shows that the jász (Jazygian) patriotic consciousness was different from the Hungarian. Besides visiting the house you can observe the most significant craft of the village which was carriage making. Alajos Tóth carriage maker (20/925-3825) is pleased to introduce the ancient time travel customs to you. The other craft is basketwork at the house of Zoltán Kovács (30 312 1873).

3. Jászdózsa

The second day morning vernacular food making can attract us. There is a possibility to make pop corn at a bonfire and we can taste game food cooked by Tarnamenti 2000 Rt. We can observe and also participate in the making of bread made from spelt wheat.

We recommend you to taste the pride of the settlement which is a natural mineral water called JÁSZOK KINCSE.

(Sármány Ferenc, Kerényi Gyula +36 57 436 009)

4. Jászapáti

In the afternoon with the help of Rokolya Dressmakers Workshop you are allowed to inspect the Jazygian folk art, clothing customs and also embroidery. During the visit such  masters of embroidery, spinning, weave, felt, leather work are at our service. It is worth a  visit to the workshops of the wood-carvers, salt-ceramic artists and experts of gingerbread makers. A very successful event sets the foundation of this idea which is the Traditional professions – Professional traditions program.

5. Jászkisér

On the third day’s morning we can visit the Balázs Csete Local History Collection. On the court of the Jazygian house the local people usually entertain one another with handicraft workshops. You can make Jazygian vernacular food and cakes and make toys as well. The tradition of the blacksmith can be seen in this village in the still running forge. The International Folk-dance Festival is a main event which is organized every year.
