Union of Jász Municipalities

The laying down of the telephone and gas lines gave the first incentive for the local governments of the Jászság region to cooperate. In compliance with what was practical and possible at the time, the 18 Jász municipalities initiated and participated in the foundation of the Interest-Representative Union of Jász Municipalities as an association in1991, aiming to improve the living conditions of the population of about 90,000 people in the region.

Like in several other subregions of the country, the potentials in the cooperation for regional development was recognized here too. This was the organization which had started its operation and generated collective developments well before the regional development act was passed in 1996. Programming documents in and for the subregion also originated from this organization, as the Subregional Development Planning and Programming, which is of prime importance in the region, also hallmarks the name of the Union. Since that time, carrying out activities to promote the region’s economic and social rise, has been given an institutional framework.

Achievments:
-Founding the Sellers Cooperative of Jász Farmers, Jászberény (1995)
-Coordinating the planning and implementation of a regional waste disposal site in Jásztelek (2000)
-Opening a Regional Development Office (1999-2000)
-Drawing up an ISPA tender connected with the realization of the Jászság Complex Waste Water Development Programme (1999-2001)
-Subregional Development Plan and Programme (1999)
-Organizing study trips and various events
